Membership
The South Central Enterprise Region (SCER) is incorporated as one of thirteen non-profit Enterprise Regions (ER’s) in the province. The SCER service area consists of 29 rural municipalities, 2 resort villages, 15 villages, 10 towns and the City of Moose Jaw. This region covers a population of 51,830 over 26,500 square kilometers. The Enterprise Regions work in partnership with Enterprise Saskatchewan.
South Central Enterprise Region’s Board of Directors includes regional representation from diverse stakeholders in key sectors of the economy, communities, and other organizations, providing the leadership necessary to build a high performing regional economy. Through stakeholder involvement, the Board intends to create an organization where its members can exchange ideas, discuss common issues and work together to develop and expand the economy in our region.
The South Central Enterprise Region’s mission is to increase business and industry competitiveness while realizing the region’s economic potential and to compete globally. It works with the regional business community to achieve the following strategic imperatives:
- Build its economy: investment; new businesses (entrepreneurs); new jobs; expanded and healthier businesses
- Foster a culture of enterprise and innovation: collaborative and creative urban and rural development
- Build on its competitive advantage: enhanced infrastructure to attract new opportunities
- Develop its leaders and good governance in support of economic development
What services does the South Central Enterprise Region provide?
- Leadership on economic strategy – a proactive and collaborative approach
- Project development and initiative
- Facilitation, engagement and collaboration
- Research, marketing and communication (i.e. location and opportunities)
- Information and statistical analysis
The South Central Enterprise Region’s head office is located in Moose Jaw and co-located with South Central Community Futures and the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce. Each economic development consultant in the office will be able to provide the administrative and human resources necessary to achieve South Central Enterprise Region’s objectives by delivering quality service to our members.
About Becoming a Member
Membership is open to any individual residing in the region who has an interest in economic progress. There is NO CHARGE to become a member AND you will remain a member until SCER is otherwise notified. Memberships are made in the name of the individual.
Board members must hold a membership and be a member in good standing. If a member is elected to the Board he/she will be required to regularly attend meetings and maintain confidentiality on all pertinent matters.
Benefits of your membership and participation include:
- Information, research and education – through South Central Enterprise Regions’ website, web-based resources, newsletter and path-finding.
- Business retention, expansion and attraction – support through information and funding
- Project Funding – applications for projects which clearly meet South Central Enterprise Region’s mandate will be accepted from businesses, municipalities, community organizations and other market based entities. Projects will be funded on a matching basis, with South Central Enterprise Region typically providing up to 50% of project costs. Project funding is subject to Board Approval.
- Promotion of the South Central Enterprise Region – business and industry.
- Voting Rights – each member receives one vote to elect your Board of Directors
